Hello OSF Members,
Welcome to Sizzling Summer in Sneads Ferry!
Recently (hiding from the heat) I've gotten hooked on the show "Renovation Aloha". The couple renovates old homes and flips them so local families can afford to stay in their home town. It's Hawaii so home prices are crazy high but they keep as much of the original old structure as possible, give the exterior a facelift and finish interior spaces with modern amenities. The end product is a nod to an authentic historic Hawaiian lifestyle, local culture, and the environment.
I'm excited to see that happening here in Sneads Ferry too! The dark blue two-story building on 210 across from Yopp Brothers Marine, Tackle & Anchor Gift Shop is now a lovely shade of light blue and renovations are clearly underway. Yopp's Meeting House now has a fresh new coat of white paint and the grounds are being cared for on a regular basis. The cinderblock building at Sneads Ferry Road and Park Lane is being restored with new windows installed. New buildings are fine but old buildings being brought back to life new life maintain the character of our quaint province while offering the contemporary upgrades and conveniences that make life easy.
I know it can't always happen ... but love seeing the results of people's hard work to restore things that have stood the test of time instead of demolishing them to be replaced with new. Be sure to read "It's a Sign of the times" in the Articles to learn about another renovation project that has been completed this year.
