The Little Town White Pages
Back in the olden days there was a big thick physical "Yellow Pages" Phone Book you could flip through when you wanted to find a company, product or service. It offered a bit of information about each listing. You could scan the whole page with every option listed alphabetically, and then decide which one you wanted to reach out to.

But I always preferred our town's little white pages phone book because it was filled with local listings, companies that were familiar with our area, and more than likely a company that I recognized but just didn't have the contact information for. That was the old days before print went out of style and social media marketing, influencing, and venting through reviews became all the rage.

They say "The more things change the more they stay the same". But they're not actually the same.
Like fashion, all things (including sharing information and advertising your business) circle back round to where they once were ... but they're never quite the same ... they're just different enough to feel new and different. Unless you're REALLY into vintage you just can't wear that old dress - the fabric shows wear, the print is outdated, the hem length isn't in vogue ... the whole garment is out of fashion - so you buy a new version that nods to the old.

That's what OurSneadsFerry.com and the Sneads Ferry Resource Guide are all about - a modern-day spin on the Little Town Phone Book but instead of being published and delivered to your door ... its Online and Printable with some storylines and articles to offer insight into the people, companies and organizations listed here.

It's my passion project business - because I believe we need something like that quaint little phone book in a more contemporary format.

Our Mission: Provide Platform for Everyone to be "Under One Roof"
Have you ever looked for a business or service on social media only to get lost in the sensational headlines of its algorithms - the ones that tempt you to loose your focus, run out of time, and leave before finding your solution?
Our Mission Is To:
-
· Offer an effective alternative to the over reliance on Social Media marketing for local businesses in 28460 and its immediate neighbors of Holly Ridge, Surf City, and North Topsail Beach who serve the Sneads Ferry province.
-
· Allow our residents to have more control when they search for providers and our members to have better "findability" when they're needed because we can't rely on social media feeds for being discovered or finding what we want
-
· Provide a resource that newcomers can trust to find the products, services, organizations and opportunities they need for living their best lives right here in Sneads Ferry.
-
· Produce the platform that businesses and organizations use (whether they have been here for generations or moments) for people to find them.
-
· Gather the people of 28460 & beyond under one roof so people can create community through commerce and understanding ...
Because ... we are an unincorporated province - without a chamber of commerce, board of trade, or local newspaper to serve as an umbrella for businesses and services.
Our Vision: Be a reflection of an Unincorporated Sneads Ferry - Where Wellbeing Abounds
Some people say there's nothing to do here, they have a hard time finding friends here, they can't find their tribe here, they are lonely here. The truth is ... there's plenty going on, activities are many, diversity abounds, and community is strong. You just have to find it ... and then lean in.
Our Vision is to gather information about the best of where to: Live, Work, Shop, Recreate, Worship, Play, and Volunteer right here in Sneads Ferry. So that whether you're here for the long term or just passing through you can have a sense of a custom curated collective of businesses, groups, organizations, churches and charities, that can come together to create a supportive entity for one another - in spite of being politically unincorporated
We aim to provide an online platform where old and new business can be featured under one umbrella. Where non-profits and public service providers can announce their events. Where one can retrieve a printable resource guide of public services, local government information, and maps of the area.
Although OurSneadsFerry.com has humble beginnings it will surely take on a life of its own. My vision for it is to serve both the newcomers who are just discovering Sneads Ferry and the heritage families who have made it what it is so far ... and to ensure that we remain a province where both the quaint and the contemporary thrive.
Our Promise to You:
There are several promises we can confidently make to our Members, Subscribers and casual readers:
1.) Out of curtesy to our Readers and Subscribers - there will never be any advertising on the Directory Pages - just a listing of Member Businesses and Services by Category with contact information and further descriptions of paid members' entities. Click Here to Browse the Directory
2.) With respect for our Members, there will always be an affordable FREE listing about their business, organization, or professional endeavor with basic contact information and the opportunity to support our work by paying for more detail of their entity in the description area of their listing. Click Here to be included in the Directory.
3.) OSF will grow organically, expanding services and offering additional paid marketing & advertising opportunities as Members and Subscribers need them, require and/or request them on pages other than the Directory. Share your thoughts or ideas about what you'd like to see here through our Contact Form.
4.) There will never be reviews or evaluations on this platform. They have value on other platforms. At OSF we believe in the power of creating trustworthy one-on-one relationships between the client/customer and the service provider/company. Read More About this Philosophy.
Who is "We / Our"?
- Joey Ferriola of "Pixel Pros, NC" built this site, we manage it together - him guiding me as I learn.
- Our "Subscribers" are those who have trusted us with their email addresses by signing up for our newsletters and retrieving their copy of the Resources Guide.
- Our "Members" are those who have asked or approved to be listed in the Directory. I seeded the original directory with my private rolodex of people - all the businesses I discovered since 2013.
About the Writer, Publisher, Founder
After nine years of visiting, building and then moving to Sneads Ferry full-time I found myself driving to Wilmington or Jacksonville for lack of having what I wanted or needed here. Everyone told me that's what I'd have to do - drive out of this "sleepy little village" to find what I want, get anything done, be happy.
Now that I've been here full-time for more than two years, I know nothing could be further from the truth. I find myself fully functioning and satisfied with the services offered here, busy with more fun things to do on any given day than can be done, happily surrounded by people of like mind and spirit to share experiences with.
I love to travel but I want to keep my day-to-day expenditures (dollars) right here where I live supporting my neighbors (although I do click that Amazon "Buy Now" button frequently). I want to make the best use of my time and resources (gas wear and tear on the car) I don't want to drive out of town for everyday needs. Like everyone, I want to enjoy friendships, be useful, feel fulfilled with my lifestyle and day-to-day activities.
Sneads Ferry is a lovely place to call home - both quaint and contemporary - undergoing quantum leaps in change. Everything you need is here - you just have to find it. I just wish, as a new resident, I had a resource like OSF and the Resource Guide ... so I created it. Well, actually I just designed it. Like I said before, Joey created it.
I hope you resonate with this passion project. It's my contribution to our community.
I invite you to Subscribe to our email list, enjoy and share your guide, and Join our Directory listing (if appropriate) today.
I look forward to seeing you out and about in the "Province"
Warm regards,
Dottie
